No comment about the journalism, stuff are my main go to for NZ News. However, the app UX is awful. Incredibly sensitive to scrolling be interpreted as move to next article. Makes it incredibly frustrating to read longer articles. Also no Dark mode.

Used to be reliable but now I can’t scroll through the news with the App freezing up. A real WOMBAT - waste of money brains and time. Don’t install it.

Ever since the recent overhaul and despite 3 or 4 updates the Stuff App is now unusable. Crashes and freezes within a couple of clicks.

With the most recent update to the app I only get to view 6-8 article headlines before the app freezes and becomes non functional. It’s so frustrating and no longer useful

The puzzles have been hard to access most days for a long time, but with the new app the puzzles are in a continuous “loading” status. Please make them accessible. Stuff is continually asking for donations and I was already not inclined to donate due to badly written articles with spelling errors and bad editing. Now we have a terrible new app to contend with that is clunky and hard to navigate.

I was forced to make this update last. Not only is the user interface drastically worse (the size of the headlines are so large it now makes you think you’ve drilled down into a story), but worse it crashes consistently when I scroll past the first 10 stories.

The mobile iPhone version loads very slowly - I’m sorry to see this as it’s a great content location for NZ news but as it stands close to unusable.

The latest changes are horrible - after a few minutes of using the app just freezes and I have to close it and open it back up again. I know it’s not my ph - I have a brand new iPhone 15. Probably should do some more testing on the new changes before rolling it out. It’s literally unreadable.

Since upgrading to the new version of the app in the US, the app is very flow running on IOS 17.2.1. The pages are not loading fully and controls do not seem to be functioning properly. I was not able to get onto the support page. I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max

Was a nice news source, but unfortunately with the most recent update all I get is an animated logo. The content never shows up. 🧐

I can’t use your new app. I use a mid size font on my phone, but the font of your new app is massive. I can’t change it. If it doesn’t change, I’ll have to delete the app. Can’t look at the rest. I can’t get past the massive font!

I have used the Stuff app, almost daily for years, and this is by far the worst update. it seems like most of the changes allow for masses of advertising, rather than easy access to news. Please give us the option to choose how the new stories are displayed, not this horrible new garbage that you have created. I know some people are really happy with their work on this update and bless them, but honestly I think it’s so much worse.

Couldn’t get to the content for all of the ads. I deleted it.

I understand the need for adverts. However having full page adverts that make it difficult to dismiss with out opening the advert website is not acceptable. Sadly uninstalling.

Have used the app for years but something changed in the last week or two. When I open the app on iPhone or iPad it just displays a full page advertisement that has no one easy way to close. I’ve now uninstalled the app and will now use web browser with ad blocker.

I live in the States and read Stuff every day to keep up with home..

When I attempt to open a Stuff story from my home screen , it simply opens the app instead of going directly to said story . Please fix this issue. The app is great for the most part.

For all those in the he community that need help, please don’t depend on them! I’ve tried countless times but I keep getting the be “this is for community members only.” After going through multiple triggering questions that I didn’t want to answer in the first place, I had to try to answer them again for a stupid app 2 other times! It’s only been making me relive my experiences and won’t let me join any groups to “help me.” This has been an awful experience and I hope you resolve it.

Thoroughly recommend this app. This news source is NZ best resource for, up to date, clear and unbiased NEWS.

We traveled to New Zealand last year and couldn’t have been more impressed with your people and the country in general. The articles in Stuff are factual and unbiased. As many others have stated in their reviews, much less negative reporting. Keep up the good work. We hope to be back to New Zealand soon, but I’m the meantime your stories remind us of why it is such a great place to live.

Being a Kiwi from Tauranga, New Zealand, living in Los Angeles for over 40yrs STUFF and SUNLIVE keeps me updated on news from home. I always find something interesting to read and often follow links to other articles. Also subscribe to NZ Herald but in my opinion STUFF covers more of the bases for me.

Somewhat biased in reporting. Also many articles are opinion masquerading as news.

I live in the USA and we are soon going to expatriate to NZ. I read news every day so I decided to start reading news from both countries in preparation. Now STUFF is my primary news source. USA news is depressing and the comments people leave are not supportive. On STUFF the articles seem balanced, informative, and relevant. I like the simplicity of the app. Works great for my iPhone 8. No annoying popup ads or push notifications. Love it.

I worked at the Hutt Hospital 4 times and my husband got a PhD from the University of Canterbury in Chch. We love NZ, and Stuff keeps me up to date!

Maybe you should think about a dark mode... Thanks...

We traveled to NZ for as little as three weeks and as long as seven months each year from 2001 to 2014. My (Scottish) clan held its international gathering in Dunedin in 2008. We have been to more cities and towns than any kiwis we know. We enjoy staying in touch with our cousins through the news as reported by Stuff. May they live long and prosper.

As an expat Saffer, I prefer using Stuff as my #1 source for News. Why? Because: The US can't stop talking about US stuff. SA news is just crime and suffering. Stuff has a good balance covering everything and everybody Keep it up NZ!!

My go to news app for both local & international news. It's just a huge shame that it takes several attempts before it opens. About every 2 weeks, it will not open at all & I have to delete it off my iPad & go through the cycle of download/install.

As others have said in recent years reviews, the app is okay, but the way it redirects you out of the app to an ad in a browser is obnoxious and terrible UX. Nothing against ads, however taking the user OUT of your app when they are scrolling is just bad. Bad for the user and bad for Fairfax.

It has an easy UI and keeps me up to date on Kiwi news.

Easy to navigate. Doesn't take up too much space or update too often.

It used to be an ok app, but just about every time you go to a new article you get redirected to a crappy "lower your bills" ad page.

Whenever I start the app or go to a different section, it opens up a link like I clicked on one of the adds. I'm not touching anything, but it automatically takes me to the link.

I live in the USA but I hope to visit New Zealand some day. I love to read about New Zealand I want to see all their awesome animals and birds especially the Spokesbird Sirocco🌟.

Latest version...I live in China but look at Stuff every day. With the latest version I can see headlines, but can't open the stories...app seems to just hang with a spinning progress meter. Previous version worked fine. Please fix this soon!

Such a sh#tty app. What's up with all these redirects to the App Store? Crashes constantly now too. 2015 guys, time to throw some money at it

Update is so annoying. You can't even read an article. Stuff seems to have hidden advertising - just by trying to read an article it triggers the App Store app to open automatically to try get you to download some stupid game. Don't know if you can stop this happening but it means 1) you can't actually read a full article 2) they try to trick you into downloading game apps

Stuff news is amazing. It's very up to the minute with world news and local stuff and also includes lots of quirky news also. Love the daily quizzes.

I rely on Stuff to keep me up to date with what is happening in NZ, especially as local newspapers for places like Wellington and Auckland, as well as the NZ Herald are terrible to read on the iPad. I've dropped a star from my rating, however, as I've found there is an annoying problem with photo spreads on the latest iPad version (I've no idea if it also affects the iPhone version). When checking gallery photos on a story, the photos open weird in landscape mode, and descriptions will not load with each photo, yet if the iPad is turned to portrait mode, the descriptions load, but in landscape form, making it impossible to read. Until this issue is corrected, the rating will remain at four stars.

Stop sending me to the App Store unwillingly!!! I'm using the NZ herald app now. Laters

I like this app well enough but stopped using it when it started opening the App Store and sending me to the sponsor's apps, usually games, as I'm trying to read stories. Very annoying.

OK, usually up to date. Crashes a little too often.

Excellent news source; buggered we're unable to view the comments, which are nice at times/annoying at others/provide a good laugh.

One stop, easy access site for news in New Zealand. Good format and constantly updated. Keep up the good work. Btw, no issues on the loading.

Ever since the new update, it won't even open. Have to go somewhere else for my news now, sorry Stuff.
